Dr. Swayne received her B.S. in Biology from the University of Virginia and her M.S. in Physiology from Georgetown University. She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. Following dental school, Dr. Swayne completed a General Practice Residency program at the Baltimore VA Medical Center, where she received additional training in advanced dental procedures, including implant dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, and hospital dentistry. An old dentist friend of our practice used to joke, “You only need to brush the teeth you want to keep.” How true! By establishing good oral care routines, including at home and professional cleanings at an interval that is appropriate for you, you should be able to have a healthy, bright smile for years to come! Here are some ways you can do your part in maintaining good oral health: Brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes twice a day, especially before bedtime, using a soft-bristled toothbrush and a fluoride toothpaste.
